Sponsors of Project Wheelchairs: We thank Free Wheelchair Mission for donating us the Wheelchairs. We thank the Somaliland community in the diaspora for sponsoring wheelchairs for Gabiley and Burao. We thank Ali Ananug of Toronto for sponsoring wheelchairs for Laasanod. We thank the Somaliland Forum for sponsoring wheelchairs for Berbera and Hargeisa. We thank Amina Abdi, Milgo Qulumbe and Abdiwahab Sheikh Ali for delivering these wheelchairs to the needy. In an extremely stressful environment, these volunteers spent their time and effort to clear the shipment from the customs, transport the wheelchairs to all the regions of Somaliland, assemble them and distribute this precious gift to the needest of the needy! They already made a difference for so many whom and touched their lives when they lifted them off the ground! We are grateful.

Achievements Made and Those Who Made It Possible

2006, Wheelchair Distribution

Achievements:

* 45 children with physical and developmental disabilities attend the center on an ongoing basis.
* 350 free wheelchairs were distributed to disabled individuals – young and old.
* 120 free wheelchairs were provided to hospitals in Somaliland, including children’s and maternity wards and the TB section), and the Mother and Child Health Centers.
* 20 free wheelchairs were provided to organizations in Somaliland.
* 650 children’s books were donated to a new children’s library
* Large number of educational toys and other resource materials donated to the children’s library.
* 42 local volunteers were mobilized to assist with the various children’s programs.

* A second shipment of wheelchairs is now in process for HASCC to once again deliver free wheelchairs to the disabled in the region.
